Some property sales stay with you longer than others.


Recently, I had the privilege of being involved in the sale of a home that had never before been on the market. Built in the early 1960s, it had been held by the same family for more than six decades. During that time, it became far more than a house. It was a constant. A place where family life unfolded, routines were formed, neighbours became friends, and a street slowly turned into a community.

For the family, letting go was emotional. You are not just selling walls and land in situations like this. You are closing a chapter that holds memories, relationships, and a deep sense of belonging. Every room carries its own history, and every boundary line represents years of shared experience with the people around you.

What stood out most was how connected this family was to the street itself. They were not just residents, they were part of the fabric of the neighbourhood. Being trusted to guide that transition reinforced something I strongly believe: real estate is rarely just about the transaction. At its best, it is about care, trust, and helping people move respectfully from one stage of life to the next.

This sale marked only the second chapter in the home’s story. The first lasted more than 60 years. Now, the home moves into its next stage, ready to be lived in, adapted, and shaped by another family who will create their own memories and connections. That sense of continuity matters. Homes like this deserve thoughtful stewardship, both in how they are sold and how their story is carried forward.

Being involved in this sale was something I felt genuinely grateful for. It aligned closely with my own values around relationships and community, and it reminded me why I do what I do. Helping families navigate meaningful transitions is a responsibility I take seriously, and one I am proud to be trusted with.


A Note on the Market


While the wider market remains relatively flat to just above average, well-located homes in established North Shore neighbourhoods continue to attract genuine buyer interest. When properties are positioned correctly and handled with care, strong outcomes are still being achieved, even in more measured conditions.
